The Refugee Welcome Collective is a community sponsorship (CS) technical assistance (TA) and training provider funded by the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM), Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), and Switchboard to improve outcomes for refugees resettled through the U.S. Refugee Admissions program by building capacity and expanding community sponsorship. The Refugee Welcome Collective collaborates with partners to provide in-depth training programs, weekly learning sessions, learning resources, and on-demand technical assistance for sponsors, community sponsorship staff, refugees paired with sponsors, and community and institutional partners to support quality community sponsorship programs across the United States. The Program Officer for Training is responsible for providing training and support to local and national refugee resettlement staff in utilizing Refugee Welcome Collective and Refugee Housing Solutions resources. With expanding volunteer engagement in community sponsorship programs nationwide as a main objective, this position will support local and national resettlement staff with efforts to mobilize sponsor groups. The Program Officer will provide training, technical assistance, program supports, and knowledge-sharing opportunities designed to support staff in enhancing engagement in community sponsorship, as well as improving housing accessibility and affordability for refugees and other newcomers to the U.S. This includes working with corporate and civic national partners, as well as engaging with government and national resettlement agencies and other private sector stakeholders involved in community sponsorship and/or newcomer housing. The ideal candidate will have experience developing and delivering training and learning materials and be proficient in adult learning and training methods. Additionally, the ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of community sponsorship and housing program models, best practices, and policies in the US and globally. A successful candidate will be comfortable creating and delivering live, online training; providing virtual consultation and guidance to local and national resettlement agency staff in response to technical assistance requests; and facilitating knowledge sharing spaces for community sponsorship practitioners. They will work in close collaboration with partners and experts to create and deliver high-quality training, technical assistance, and program supports. The candidate must be able to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
