Purpose

Working with the Preferred Communities Team, the Case Manager will provide direct services to ORR-eligible Afghan and Ukrainian refugees and support clients in attaining self-sufficiency.  The Case Manager will assess the need for a higher level of service and make referrals as needed.  Case Managers will conduct community partner/service provider training and outreach.

Responsibilities

  • Provide in-depth service case management to Ukrainian humanitarian parolees, ORR-eligible Afghans, refugees, and asylum seekers.
  • Work with resettlement program team to ensure seamless service delivery to clients needing support and services.
  • Work with clients to create achievable service plans and support clients as they navigate resources and programs to resolve barriers to resettlement and self-sufficiency.
  • Advocate on behalf of parolees, refugees and SIV holders in the local service sector and with community agencies, to create streamlined referral systems.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with health and mental health service providers to increase access and availability of services to refugees.
  • Provide technical assistance and cultural competency trainings to service providers to build their capacity in serving unique populations.
  • Explore and/or develop innovative programs and opportunities to assist families with special circumstances in finding stability and overcoming barriers.
  • Assess and monitor client progress at regular intervals to ensure progress on goals is made, designated resources are maximized and modify initial resettlement plans and other case file documents as required;
  • Organize workshops and group programming for refugees that provide information and tools to promote overall stability, health and wellness, including but not limited to literacy, stress management, self-care, women’s health, and healthy relationships and families.
  • Ensure compliance with case file management and reporting requirements, including timely data entry in hard-copy files and databases;
  • Travel regularly throughout the service delivery area (home visits, agency visits, service provider visits etc.);
  • Participate in all program meetings, staff development activities and fully engages as a member of the team;
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree
  • Minimum of 3 years previous experience working with refugees or immigrants, and previous case management experience preferred.

Other Skills:  

  • Strongly preferred that candidates are bilingual in English/Ukrainian or English/Dari or English/Pashto.
  • The successful candidate must be computer literate, with proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word and Excel) and internet applications.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills are required.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential, including an ability to communicate in a trauma-informed, positive, caring, and professional manner, demonstrating respect and empathy.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment required.
