Purpose

The Senior Accounting Specialist will be responsible for essential accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, month end reporting, review and code financial information, compile and review information for accuracy, and maintain records. This is a remote role based in the Northeast.

Responsibilities

  • Process credit card transactions and complete monthly credit card reconciliations;
  • Track petty cash and gift card disbursements and complete petty cash/gift card replenishment requests.
  • Assist with processing and tracking incoming and outgoing unrestricted and restricted private funds.
  • Prepare and complete weekly check runs and maintain check request documentation.
  • Assist with reviewing entries, creating vendor accounts and client ID’s, and generating reports in ERP.
  • Assist with compiling and reviewing data for reports.
  • Support external and internal audits as needed; assist in preparing materials requested by auditors.
  • Assist finance staff on an as-needed basis, as well as serving as backup to other senior accounting specialists in their absence.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

  • BS in Accounting or Finance plus one year of related work experience, or high school diploma and five years of related work experience.

Experience:

  • Three years minimum experience in accounting is required.

Skills:  

  • Previous experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including strong proficiency in Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills and a high attention to detail.
  • Strong time management skills including ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
  • High degree of professional integrity; ability and commitment to maintain confidentiality of sensitive data.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work well independently and collaborate and communicate effectively as a team member in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Fluency in English, written and spoken.
